Laser Heat Treatment
Laser heat treatment is a cost-effective way of hardening the surface of a base material, typically a metal. It is a type of laser surface modification, aimed at enhancing and increasing its resistance to wear and fatigue. In laser heat treatment a focused laser beam expose the surface of a material to a rapid thermal cycle of heating and cooling, resulting in the tempering of the material surface. Laser heat treatment combines the advantages of traditional flame and induction hardening with laser precision, speed and efficiency: the heat affected zone will be minimal, less energy will be used to obtain the same results, the risk of distortion will be minimized. Equipped with an El.En. scanning head, an El.En. RF CO2 laser source will provide the right beam power, beam size and speed to obtain oustanding result in laser surface treatment of metals.
